About

About Pinnawala

Pinnawala is best known for its elephant orphanage, set up in 1975 to care for orphaned and injured wild elephants. A large herd lives here, and visitors can watch baby elephants being bottle-fed and see the herd walk to the river to bathe.

It sits on the road between Colombo and Kandy, so it makes an easy and memorable stop for families and animal lovers.
