About

About Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura was established as the capital of Sri Lanka in the 3rd century BC and is one of the island’s most important sacred cities. Its great dagobas, ancient ponds and monasteries are spread across a wide area and form a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Among its treasures are the Sacred Bo Tree, considered the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world, and the Ruwanweli Seya, the tallest of the city’s relic domes.
